One of the most basic tenets of composition is the Rule of Thirds. Although most people are familiar with this technique it is often forgotten in the haste to take a photo. However you ignore it at your peril as it can make an average snap into something which is has tension and dynamism.

Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

Time well spent. Erin was a good coach with suggestions and perspectives rather than "instruction." She has a knack for helping people make their own discoveries. The other participants were also good resources, as everyone brought something different from background and experience. I certainly came away with new knowledge and ideas for the future.

While recently working in Glasgow I had the opportunity to drive north of the Clyde and into the Highlands. The weather was atrocious most of the day. But in Glencoe the rain eased a little. Snapped this of a lone tourist. Reminded me of that iconic scene in the movie Skyfall.

On a job in Glasgow I had the chance to drive North and explore the Highlands. The weather was unreal. Thick fog, grey skies, then heavy rain - not ideal for photography. At the foot of the glen then rain stopped and I captured this lone tourist. Very close to the spot from the movie Skyfall. A little James Bond moment caught with my FujiXT5.

I wanted to shoot the lunar eclipse but at the same time incorporate some quintessential Fort Worth icons into the image for context. I knew I would need to use a very long telephoto to get a large moon but in doing so knew that the rest of the image would need to be some distance from me due to the tunnel vision of the telephoto. I used Photopills and The Photographer?s Ephemeris to plan the shot which was taken with Fuji X system mirrorless equipment.

This October image of a chipmunk was taken on my Lanark County property, I prefer to photograph small wildlife such as this fellow in a natural rustic setting. I always take my images of wildlife big or small early morning or late afternoon?not only are creatures more active but the low angle of light provides better modeling of the subject. I recently acquired an older exotic lens, probably circa 1980s. It is a Nikon 400mm f2.8 AI-S which is a completely manual lens with no VR. I paired it with my Nikon D850 to see if I could learn to tackle manual focus. The hummingbirds are congregating on the front of my property where agave plants are flowering at this time of year. This makes it easier for me to practice. This Broad-Billed Hummingbird landed on a stick. The camera settings were 1/3200s at f2.8, auto ISO-320. This lens is old,
